Jewelry Care Guide

I Have to Care For My Jewelry?

Most people know they have to be careful with their cashmere sweater and extra attention has to be paid when cleaning or storing this wardrobe favorite. There are certain must-dos, like dry cleaning instead of machine washing, and certain never-dos, like tumble-drying! The same can be said of jewelry and you must take care of every piece of jewelry as you would your favorite piece of clothing, so it would look great and last longer over time!

There are many factors that influence the wear and tear of jewelry, so here are a few important tips to help you keep your jewelry looking its best and lasting for years.

How Should I Take Care of My Jewelry?

Make sure you store your jewelry pieces separately, either in a soft-lined box or pouch, so they don't rub together, scratch or tangle. A good tip is to keep your necklace and bracelet chains fastened, so they don't become tangled. Also, make sure you keep your jewelry in a dry, cool, and dark place, as heat and humidity will cause tarnishing over time.

With time and wear, gold-plating will tarnish and sterling silver will naturally become oxidized and tarnished. That's why avoiding rubbing and tangling is essential when storing gold-plated jewelry pieces. To prolong the life of sterling silver jewelry, store them separately in a sealed plastic bag or airtight box to keep out the air that causes oxidation.

How Should I Clean My Jewelry?

We recommend cleaning your jewelry with a soft and non-abrasive cloth, as this helps to maintain their shine. If needed, you can use a mild soap in warm water to gently clean your jewelry, but make sure you also gently dry the pieces with another dry, soft, and non-abrasive cloth. We don't recommend using polish or abrasive materials to clean jewelry because they will ruin them over time.
